Can't Find a Job

I'm 18, recent high school graduate, and I have over a year experience working in a major department store.  I've applied all over the place but I can't find a job. Retail isn't going to rent an apartment unless I work 80 hours a week. I need something better.

Really, i'm interested in finding a job that can become a career, but I'd take any decent paying job. I'm considering looking nationwide I'm having so much trouble finding a job here.

Any ideas?

Just an FYI, the job market is shit right now. The news was down the road from my house today at our employment office doing a story on how dry the jobs are in my area. I'm being kicked out come August 1st, come that day I will be living, literally, on the streets, unless I have a job and/or $200.
Talk about the perfect time for my parents to pick for that, eh?

It sucks, though. Very few places are willing to hire people with no experience, and even those with minimal job experience are being turned away from minimum wage jobs. It's terrible to be jobless right now. It's pretty much 'if you are, you're screwed' mentality to everyone, it seems.
Best of luck though.

Your problem is you work in the Midwest.  Because of the auto companies in the Midwest and because of mainly Michigan, Auto workers, sometimes with decades of experience and college degrees are taking jobs that the people below them would normally take, and it trickles down until no jobs are left.  So what you need to do is take any job that pays decent money, put in applications EVERYWHERE just to get a stable income while you find a job that you want.

Honestly considering relocation. Thinking of searching for jobs elsewhere.

I'm certain I could be hired at someplace like walmart or target, but what's the point? You can't pay rent with that chicken feed.
